So i just got back from a Facebook developers garage, where people and companies are showing off new applications and trying to figure out how to make money off of it,

Dave Morin from Facebook was speaking live via Skype and well he wouldn’t confirm the rumours he didn’t deny them either, in fact his Skype connection suddenly dropped out when he was about to answer, and he did not come back online.

He was originally supposed to be there but he  was called back at the last second to stay in Palo Alto for a emergency meeting.

So Facebook is about to open up to the world, while i did write about if before in How to make a  killing with Facebook, we are now about to have the flood gates open.

Nov 6 looks to be the announcement date and hopefully the launch date, they are opening a ad network and hopefully it’s a lot more than just flyers, i think there will be bidding on words and targeted ad’s via email potentially although it is less likely.

So it seems like there is finally a real opportunity to make some good money off of Facebook, were talking $500-$5000+/day depending on how much you have to spend.

My opinion is that depending on the success of the Ad network is going to determine wether Facebook gets bought or wether they go public, i think they will be going public and i think it will be in less than 2 years.

What do you think?

Interesting. Never signed up for facebook, but now I might have to. Hopefully you’ll let us know when this launches? I don’t keep up with things as much as I could or should, I rely on blogs like yours :)

    Keep the posts coming.

Have you thought about separating your user posts with background color or full border or something? It’s hard on the eyes sometimes, and the border at the bottom isn’t doing the job correctly.

Can you tell i’m about the user experience? ;)

i don’t think the kid meant “what do you think” regarding his choice of design lol

anyways, it was confirmed today that MS bought 1.6 % share in FB for 240 million so looks like they will be heading up the advertising division, will be interesting how it plays out, should be some money to be made for sure…flyers were easy money when they first came out, little harder now tho

lol. Yeah. Definitely Mike. But I was just throwing out some visitor input in case for the kid to take into consideration. :)

I’m not surprised Microsoft decided to get in on the action considering facebook’s growth since they opened to more than gen-x. I am surprised that Google didn’t jump at the chance to get in. I guess they’re satisfied with the way orkut is performing outside the U.S. Or they know something we don’t.

What’s the deal with MySpace? Is there still money to be had there even if you’re not a musician?

After I heard about facebook advertising, I finally opened an account. The clicks are really cheap but there are some rules on advertising there. http://www.facebook.com/ad_guidelines.php
