Making Money off of Dead People
Written by The Kid on September 23, 2007Yea that title is a little sketchy but at least hear me out, so anyone know who Gutenberg was?
That’s right he invented printing with movable type. Well today he is still working just in a different way.
The Gutenberg project is a place where public domain works can be freely accessed by all. In fact they have over 20,000 books that are all free!
What does that mean? That means we can make money off of them.
1) Ebooks - I know i talk about ebooks a lot, they only reason i do is because people are constantly buying them if people stop buying them i will stop talking about them. So here’s the play download a bunch of classics and sell them as a pack on ebay or any other place you enjoy selling your crap.
2) Website content - Start a website that contains these ebooks links (always use project gutenbergs download links this way you wont pay for bandwidth) and make sure you have a ton of amazon links of auction ad links on the site, people that are willing to download ebooks most likely purchase the odd ebook or two so promote, promote, promote!
3) The Subscription service - This is my personal favourite, start either a newsletter or a content website and state all the books that people will have access to when they join your site/newsletter make it a low fee that is very reasonable and so there is no commitment on the customers end, say $2-$5/month and also offer a 100% money back garuntee. This will build trust and it will help push the customer over the edge. All you need is around 50-100 sign ups per month and that is an extra couple hundred dollars a month in revenue, but the best part is, if you do it every month then it will add up to a couple thousand dollars a month in income.
P.S. If you reword and paraphrase a book and change it by more than 20% it is possible to copyright that book =)
Have a way to monetize other peoples work? Share it in the comments!

How over circulated are these e-books? Though it’s a great idea for that price range to attract e-readers cuz they’re most likely gonna be repeat customers.
Like all ebooks they are available almost everywhere, but it’s all about the marketing get the message in front of people and you will get sales!
How about you write an e-book on how to obtain 20,000 e-books for free and start your own subscription website?
Great idea i think i will, i’ll have it coming up later this week or early next!

That’s the great thing about most content driven ads on sites nowadays - they lead people to where they want to go anyway!
I’d never heard of the Gutenberg project - but I may have been interested in an E-book on some long dead guy available at that site.
Interesting ideas, Will be checking them out.
P.S: GREAT BLOG DESIGN! FANTASTIC!
